OUR FUTURE

The best time to plant a tree is twenty years ago, and second best time is now.” – Chinese Proverb

Our future depends on the actions of our present.  Education reform is the single greatest problem facing America.  More so than any deficit, National debt, and the Economy.  Not to mention all of these other issues would not also be as dire if only we had reformed our educational system 20 years ago.  I attended 10 schools from 1st to 12th grade and 3 colleges.  I have personally seen the full spectrum of the American educational system.  I went to some of the absolutely worst schools in terms of violence and test scores, as well as the best of private institutions.  Suffice it to say, I have seen firsthand many of the problems we are struggling with.  One of the most successful organizations in progressive reform is Teach for America or TFA.  I won’t go into the many reasons TFA educators have proven to be effective against our education dilemma.  Though I will gladly explain why TFA and similar method charter schools are a means to a better way of life for all Americans.  Simply put, instilling in children the belief that anything is possible, and keeping them in school is vital to the strength of our community and our children’s lives.  Providing a supportive and constructive atmosphere for all children to grow up in will greatly lower teen pregnancy, unemployment, crime, drug use, and taxes.  More students will attend and graduate college and contribute to society while increasing commerce and tax revenue at national and state levels.  More money will be placed towards improving our communities, and less on policing them.  Please help.  If you are in college, consider working as a TFA teacher for two post graduate years.  If you are interested in learning more on the deplorable condition of public education watch Waiting for Superman.
