Be the Change

“Be the change you want to see in the World” – Mahatma Gandhi

One night in a sea side village there was a giant storm. When the rain stopped and the waves died down, the sea shore was riddled with countless starfish. A young boy ran out onto the beach and began to frantically throw them back into the water. He threw dozens back into the ocean, but there were literally hundreds more on the beach. A man, who took notice of the boy, slowly walked up to him and asked, 
"What are you doing?" 
"I'm saving the star fish!" the boy answered.

The man looked around at the seemingly endless amounts of star fish on the beach.
"Son, there's so many, you can't possibly make a difference."
The boy pauses, picks up a star fish and holds it up.  Looking at the man, he says,
"I made a difference to this one!"
The boy turns back to the water and throws the star fish as far as he can into the sea.  The man, inspired by the boy's resolve, begins to pick up star fish and throw them back into the ocean alongside the boy.
